Our Mission

Austin Bat Cave is a creative community. Our writing programs empower students to find their voices and tell their stories.

Since 2007, we've been dedicated to providing free creative writing programs to young people throughout Austin and surrounding areas. We believe that every young person has a story worth telling, and we're here to help them tell it.

We serve young writers ages 6-18, offering a wide range of programs from in-school workshops to summer camps, all led by professional writers and dedicated volunteers.

Our Approach

We believe that creative writing is a powerful tool for self-discovery and expression. Our programs are designed to meet young writers where they are and help them develop their unique voices.

All of our programs are offered free of charge to ensure that every young person has access to quality creative writing education, regardless of their economic circumstances.
